It was an honor to be invited by one of our state’s premier business publications, Business North Carolina (for 40 years, sharing the stories of North Carolina’s business community), to talk about North Carolina business, the real estate industry in our great state and a little bit about my newly released book. Thanks to Dave Mildenberg and the great Business North Carolina team for hosting me on their weekly podcast; Dave is a great interviewer and our great state, with all we have going on for us here, from the mountains to the sea, is something I love to chat about so it was a lot of fun!

Mike Speenberg grew up in the greater Charlotte region and is a very talented entertainer and comedian who has entertained people all over our globe. He started his podcast called The DugWise Show during the pandemic (one of his “right turns”) and the show focuses on exploring the roots of folks who grew up in our great region. Mike and his team produce the show weekly at one of my family’s favorite restaurants for 35 years now, the French Quarter Restaurant (on Church Street) downtown, operated by my friend George Photopoulos and his family. We have been fans of the restaurant since its inception and since day #1 of the Carolina Panthers, my Dad (when he was alive) and I would, without fail, have our pregame meal there. This is a tradition my sons, my family and I have carried on. So when George was kind enough to make the introduction to Mike and Mike was kind enough to extend the invite to come on his show and talk a little about our lives, my book AND have a little French Quarter food afterward, well of course I jumped at the chance because I knew we would have a blast, and we did! The term “digging my roots” this day at the French Quarter Restaurant took on special meaning and was an understatement. It was a special day and I only wish my Dad could have been there with us – he would have loved it but I know he and George’s Dad, Mr. Panos Photopoulos, were smiling down on us! Please click above for a link to the podcast. Check Mike out when you have a chance; he is super talented and if you haven’t visited George and family at the French Quarter Restaurant in Charlotte, well you are missing out!

I’m sorry but we have are currently out of stock – as an author, it’s a wonderful problem to have but I want you to have my book and we are in the process of getting restocked – please send us a message and I will contact you on availability. If you need immediately please check in with Amazon, Barnes, and Noble, or your local book store.

The Book: ENDURANCE REAL ESTATE

Running from Peak to Peak; Because Real Estate & Life are Endurance Sports.

Welcome to my Endurance Real Estate Book Page!

Please check out the rest of my website, including my podcast, while you are here if you have a few minutes and please scroll down to see table of contents and what industry leaders are saying about my book (I am truly humbled!).

Endurance Real Estate is real estate centric, but its not all about real estate. Its also about at times falling down, picking ourselves (or someone else!) up, dusting ourselves off and running to our next peak. This book is for seasoned and aspiring:

  • Real Estate Professionals
  • Small business owners
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Business leaders and coaches
  • Endurance sport enthusiasts

It is also for anyone who needs a “boost”, enduring or running through a personal valley or an uphill climb…

My book is written from a main street point of view…not a Wall Street point of view.

When I was installed as President of the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS in 2011, I told my friends and colleagues in the room that day as we were still working to exit the grasp of the Great Recession in southeastern North Carolina: “If you are here and still standing, you have made it. The light at the end of the tunnel is no longer a train and you’ve just survived the endurance event of a lifetime. We are all endurance athletes.”  It’s as true now as it was then. In an industry (and life) that has given so much to me, what started out as a chronicle for my sons (my “If Dad gets hit by a bus” document) – what to do, what not to do, what I’ve seen work, what I’ve seen not work, has evolved into something I hope helps you or others in your world from peak to peak and cross your finish lines, whether in the real estate industry, business or life…whatever or wherever those finish lines may be.

Thanks, and I appreciate you coming on this journey with me!
